Program Description
Peace Corps Prep is a two-year program that helps UMBC students to prepare for cross -cultural service like the Peace Corps. Students who successfully complete the course receive a certificate of completion from the US Peace Corps.
Students will apply to the program as early as their second semester of their freshman year, and at latest by first semester junior year via an online application describing their interest in the program and a tentative plan for meeting the curriculum and enhancement requirements. Students will additionally include a faculty reference (faculty will separately submit a short, online student recommendation).
The program itself consists of internationally focused coursework, community service in Baltimore, MD and exposure to returned Peace Corps volunteers who study at UMBC. The program is designed to be compatible with any major and classes for your degree can often count toward the Peace Corps Prep completion certificate.
